The normal cartridge pair replaced every 12 months or 2000 litres for the Countertop Reverse Osmosis system is 1 x Omnipure CL10-PF5 sediment filter and 1 x Omnipure CL10RO-T40 = 1 pair

Reverse osmosis how it works

Taking tap water as an example, we put it on one side of a tank while, on the other side, we put pure water separating them by a semipermeable membrane. On the side of with tap water, we apply pressure enough to counteract the natural osmotic pressure from the side with pure water. The pressure then pushes the tap water through the filter.

The membrane only always the smaller water molecules to pass through to the fresh water side leaving the larger salty molecules on the other side of the membrane. Hence, reverse osmosis. In general, a reverse osmosis filter system uses a semipermeable membrane to allow pure water to pass through while restricting contaminants that are larger than pure water molecules.

Using the crossflow process, quality RO filter units allow the membrane to continually clean itself.
